Built in 1919 as a miner’s hotel, the lodge is a reflection of Crested Butte’s historic past. Completely and beautifully renovated, the lodge boasts 19 rooms each with a private bathroom, color cable television, and telephone with voicemail. Queen, twin and king beds are available. Third floor accommodations have balconies with spectacular views of the surrounding Elk Mountains. Guests enjoy the lobby bar open each evening, the indoor hot tub room, ski storage, and a full home-cooked breakfast each morning. The lodge is nestled in a quiet residential neighborhood surrounded by historic residences, yet only two blocks from the towns main street, Elk Avenue, two blocks from the shuttle to Mt. Crested Butte Ski Area, and four blocks from the groomed alpine ski trails. Most guests who fly in for their stay at the lodge don’t bother with car rentals because everything is so convenient. The staff at the lodge is always available to give guests suggestions for the best local off the beaten path special places in the surrounding mountains. The Elk Mountain Lodge is a jewel, one of those quiet little Inn that is perfect for small groups, and has become a favorite of ski and bicycle clubs looking for a modest yet elegant mountain trip.
